When the Baltimore Orioles played the final game in Yankee Stadium against the Bronx Bombers this past September, it was Brian Roberts, the Orioles All-Star second baseman who gave me his game used jersey, bat, helmet, batting gloves and cleats from that historic game.
Per Brian’s request, I took those items and we auctioned them off on-line with all the proceeds benefiting a charity he was very familiar with, UMMS Foundation (University of Maryland Medical System). This afternoon the children’s hospital, located in downtown Baltimore, invited me to take a tour of the facility and meet with Dr. Steven Czinn, MD and Amy Jarboe an Associate Director of the UMMS Foundation.
The hospital tour and conversation was well worth the afternoon’s visit. I was really impressed with Dr. Czinn and Amy concerning their plans for the development and growth of the non-profit organization's priority which is to provide the best service and medical attention for kids.
I left the meeting and facility convinced that they will make a difference and I would like to contribute in anyway I can. If Brian Roberts commits his time and energy to make a difference then you can be confident it is for a great cause.
