Rick Dempsey broke into the big leagues on September 23, 1969 with the Minnesota Twins. The “Rookie” went on to enjoy a twenty-four (24) year career playing for such teams as the Yankees, Dodgers, Indians, Brewers and of course, the Orioles.
An Oriole fan favorite since his playing days, Rick currently provides us with great baseball insight as an in-studio analyst for the MASN network’s broadcast of Orioles games.
Rick is about to break into the ranks of professional singers and entertainers. Vista Records recently announced the CD release of Rick Dempsey’s “Home Run Holiday” with the Deanna Bogart Band. Yes, the former 1983 World Series MVP has collaborated with two-time Blues Music Award winner and renowned producer, Deanna Bogart on a wonderful collection of holiday classics.
Included are such great songs as a blues version of “Merry Christmas Baby”, a duet of “What Are You Doing News Years Eve”, and holiday favorite, “Joy To The World”. A “Rookie” once again, Rick’s smoothing down home vocals will surprise many. In addition to Rick, Deanna and her band the CD features members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (The Atlantic String Quartet), Scott Ambush, Mike Aubin, Dan Leonard, Matt Wigler and the Knight Brothers.
Rick, Deanna and her band will be making a limited number of live appearances in the Baltimore / Washington DC markets. The official release date of “Home Run Holiday” is October 20, 2009.
